Description
Kirrikee Picnic Day 2018
The St Andrew's Outdoor Education Program commenced in 1981 and Kirrikee was purchased in 1984. The site is used primarily for outdoor programs, leadership camps, and as a base for adventure camping. Kirrikee is the aboriginal name for the Whistling Kite, a bird of prey with a shrill, whistling call that lives in the open bushland and foothills in the area.
Our annual Picnic Day includes a full day of supervised activities as well as morning/afternoon tea & lunch :
- Barista - with good coffee & hot chocolate all day!
- Lunch (prepared by Penrose Volunteer Fire Brigade)
- Ladder & crate climbing
- High Ropes
- Abseiling
- Canoeing and log rolling (conditions permitting) - bring your swimmers for a dip in the dam
- Billy Karts
- Mountain Bike Racing - 1:30pm
- Laser Rifle Shooting Competition **NEW this year**
- Guided tours of beautiful Kirrikee - 11:30am
- Rest & relaxation in the beautiful Southern Highlands
There is also the opportunity to make it a great family weekend by staying at the property overnight. You can bring your own tents/campervans and setup your home away from home or book one Kirrikee's permanent tents (limited numbers).
Nearby is Kangaroo Valley, Fitzroy Falls, Penrose State Forest, Bundanoon and more excellent mountain bike riding that can be organised at the nearby town of Wingello, as well as fishing, hiking and bushwalking.
